Knitto Terms of Use

1. Purpose and Scope

  1. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Knitto app (the “Service”) provided by needbase (“we”, “us” or “our”) and set out the rights, obligations and responsibilities of you and us.
  2. The Service is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). These Terms supplement the Standard EULA on matters it does not address. In the event of any conflict, the Standard EULA prevails.
  3. We process your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

2. The Service

  1. The Service lets you organize knitting and crochet patterns (PDFs, scans and photos) and record your progress with counters, timers, highlights, pencil notes and other tools.
  2. The Service does not require an account, and we do not operate servers for it. Your patterns and records are stored on your device.

3. Patterns and Intellectual Property

  1. Copyright in any pattern you add remains with its rights holder. You may only add patterns that you have the right to use.
  2. We do not access or collect the patterns or records you add.
  3. The Service displays your records on top of the original pattern and does not modify the original, except when you add or remove pages.
  4. We own the rights in the screens, text, illustrations and technique guides of the Service that we created. Standard knitting and crochet symbols and other third-party material remain the property of their respective rights holders.

4. Your Data

  1. Because your patterns and records are stored only on your device, they may be lost if you delete the app or lose your device. We are unable to recover them.
  2. Your patterns and records may be included in your device’s iCloud Backup or computer backup. We recommend that you also keep your original pattern files outside the app.

5. Free Use

The features and limits available without a subscription (such as the number of patterns you can add) are shown in the app. We will give notice under Section 7.1 before changing them to your disadvantage.

6. Knitto Plus Subscription

  1. We may offer a paid subscription, “Knitto Plus”, and will announce it in the app when it is first offered. If you used the Service before then, the free trial in Section 6.3 starts when you first launch the version of the app that first offers Knitto Plus, and Section 6.4 applies from that time.
  2. Knitto Plus lets you add more patterns than are available without a subscription and use Knitto Plus features (for example chart linking, sections and auto-find). The features included in Knitto Plus are shown on the plan screen in the app.
  3. Free Trial
    • You may start a free trial, for a period we set, when you first try to use a Knitto Plus feature (for users described in Section 6.1, the trial starts on first launch of that version).
    • Before your free trial starts, the app will show you: how long the trial lasts and the date it ends, which features you will no longer be able to use if you do not subscribe after it ends, and the subscription price.
    • During the trial, you can use Knitto Plus features, except that you may have only as many patterns as are available without a subscription (Section 5).
    • No payment details are required for the trial, and you will not be charged when it ends.
    • The trial is available once per device and does not restart if you reinstall the app.
  4. If You Do Not Subscribe (including after the trial ends)
    • You may continue to use the features available without a subscription (Section 5).
    • Once you have reached the number of patterns available without a subscription, you cannot add new ones. If you delete a pattern, you can add another in its place.
    • We will not delete or hide patterns you have added or records you have created (including notes, pencil drawings, highlights, sections and chart links) because you do not subscribe or your trial has ended; they will remain visible. Features available without a subscription, such as counters, will continue to work with them. This also applies to patterns added before Knitto Plus was offered.
    • Patterns, sections and other items that you delete yourself are permanently deleted together with their records, and we cannot recover them (Section 4).
    • Knitto Plus features are available only with an active subscription or trial. Without one, you cannot create or edit content with Knitto Plus features, but you can still delete content you have already created.
  5. Payment and Renewal
    • Payment is processed by the App Store through your Apple Account. You may subscribe on a yearly or monthly basis at the price displayed by the App Store in your country.
    • Your subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
    • If the price increases, you will be notified in accordance with Apple’s procedures.
  6. Cancellation and Refunds
    • You can cancel in your device’s Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. After cancelling, you retain access until the end of the period you have paid for.
    • Refunds are handled under Apple’s refund process. Because we do not receive payments directly, we cannot issue refunds.
  7. If you change devices or reinstall the app, you can restore your subscription using “Restore Purchases” on the plan screen.

7. Changes to and Discontinuation of the Service

  1. We may modify, add or change features of the Service. We will announce significant changes that are less favorable to you in the app or on this page at least 30 days in advance. The introduction of Knitto Plus is governed by Section 6.1.
  2. If we discontinue the Service, we will announce it in the app or on this page at least 30 days in advance. Because the Service runs on your device, the installed app and your records will remain usable after discontinuation. However, we do not guarantee compatibility with future operating systems.

8. Limitation of Liability

  1. The Service is a tool to assist with knitting. Results from counters, highlights and auto-find are for reference only and may differ from the pattern. Please check important figures against the original pattern.
  2. Except in cases of our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, we are not liable for any loss of data or the outcome of your knitting arising from your use of the Service.
  3. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under applicable consumer protection laws.

9. Changes to These Terms

  1. We will announce changes to these Terms in the app or on this page at least 7 days before they take effect, or at least 30 days before for changes that are less favorable to you.
  2. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription.

10. Language and Governing Law

  1. These Terms are written in Korean, Japanese and English. The Korean version applies to users in Korea, the Japanese version to users in Japan, and the English version to all other users.
  2. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. However, if the consumer protection laws of your country of residence are more favorable to you, those laws apply.
  3. Any dispute relating to the Service will be resolved by the competent court under the Civil Procedure Act of the Republic of Korea.
